On the surface, Magic Mike XXL might seem like one of the least likely sequels in recent years, a testament to the current popularity of Channing Tatum. But then you realize that Tatum started his career with movies like Step Up, which has now spawned four sequels, and I guess in a way this isn’t that far off. Magic Mike XXL picks up three years later with the remaining Kings of Tampa deciding to end their careers as strippers by giving one last blow-out performance in Myrtle Beach. Matthew McConaughey is not involved this time and Steven Soderbergh is not directing, but it still looks like a lot of fun.
