Daredevil Trailer: Marvel’s First Netflix Series

daredevil

When it was announced back in 2013 that Marvel and Netflix would be teaming up for four new TV series based on Marvel characters, fans understandably had plenty of questions. Would these new shows be connected to the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Would they be higher calibre productions than Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? Now the trailer for the first of these shows has arrived online and, at the very least, it looks darker and grittier than most of the Marvel productions we’ve seen to date.

Daredevil stars Charlie Cox (Boardwalk Empire) as Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer who fights crime at night using his heightened senses and martial arts prowess. The show also stars Vincent D’Onofrio, Rosario Dawson, Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson but we barely get more than a glimpse of them… heck, we don’t even get to see the full Daredevil costume for that matter. Still, it looks promising and certainly more true to the source material than the Ben Affleck movie. All 13 episodes of Daredevil will debut on Netflix on April 10th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

I really want to see the director’s cut of the movie. Any plans for that to come to Netflix? I really liked that movie. Am I the only one?

Very much looking forward to this, but the trailer really didn’t really inspire me much. Wasn’t to overly impressed with any of the shots or scenes other than the last shot of DD lifting his head from the water..very John Romita Jr. like in design and feel that last shot. In fact it seems like they took a lot from the John Romita Jr. Universe version of DD. Sort of like all the Batman universe movies drawing a little something from Frank Miller.

Still not overly impressed so far but still looking forward to checking it out. At least this is nothing like the Affleck movie…bleahhhhh!!!

and certainly more true to the source material than the Ben Affleck movie

Depends on the source material, I guess. Decades of comics – take your pick. I never understood the hatred for the Ben Affleck movie. The director’s cut is a pretty decent comic book film. But haters gonna hate.

Looks like a hundred other shows. Boring. Pass.

  • Stinker

Like the long version of the movie, this looks like nothing special or even good. The movie is better than most “experts” think it is.

This actually looks decent. Much better than the CW superhero shoes. Also being only 13 episodes long adds to the credibility.

There isn’t much here for me to form an opinion over, but I’ll probably check it out. I would be a lot less interested if this was on basic cable.

As a longtime DD fan, I’m hoping this gets a little closer to the ground and more into the psyche of Matt. Say what you will about Frank Miller but he is the one who really brought Daredevil into the spotlight and no one got close to his work until Bendis took it on. These are the stories generally regarded as the best DD stories and the Affleck movie didn’t reflect them.
On the other hand, I can definitely see how this could look boring and generic if you’re not already a fan of the character.
