The Salvation Trailer Starring Mads Mikkelsen

Aside from Seth MacFarlane’s A Million Ways to Die in the West (which barely qualifies), there weren’t a whole lot of high profile westerns released last year. The good news is that 2015 is shaping up to be a whole lot better. The Hateful Eight, The Revenant, Jane’s Got a Gun and Bone Tomahawk are just a handful of the movies currently in the works, but before any of those hit theatres IFC Film will release The Salvation from Danish filmmaker Kristian Levring. The movie stars Mads Mikkelsen as an ex-soldier determined to avenge the death of his wife and son, no matter what the cost. Eva Green, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Jonathan Pryce also co-star. The Salvation hits select theatres and VOD on Feb. 27th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

    A potentially sprawling Danish western with Mads Mikkelsen at the front? I admit that the combo of traditional American accents with Danish seems a bit jarring but I’m definitely in. I liked Levring’s Dogme attempt with The King is Alive, and Fear Me Not.

    2014 Westerns: There was the Hillary Swank/Tommy Lee Jones western, The Homesman, which is really, really good.

    Mads Mikkelsen and Eva green???? I’m in baby!!! Mads Mikkelsen is truly under utilized and under appreciated! I would see him anything. And lets not forget Eva Green!!! Who would have made a great Wonder Women in my opinion…the woman has the most intense stare equal to Liam Neeson in all the Taken movies combined!!!
