New to Theatres This Weekend: Project Almanac, Black or White, The Loft

We’ve got three new movies in wide release this weekend, but American Sniper should make short work of them even with the Super Bowl occupying the older male demographic on Sunday. The Michael Bay-produced teen-oriented time travel film Project Almanac is expected to lead the new releases, while Kevin Costner’s racially-themed drama Black or White and the Karl Urban thriller The Loft are playing on significantly fewer screens. J.C. Chandor’s crime drama A Most Violent Year is also expanding this weekend, while in select theatres we have Simon West’s Wild Card starring Jason Statham, Cannes hit Girlhood and the Oscar-nominated Mauritanian film Timbuktu. If none of those options sound appealing, you can also catch the last two fourth season episodes of Game of Thrones on IMAX screens for a limited time. What will you be watching this weekend?

  • Thankfully Foxcatcher, Whiplash, and A Most Violent Year all expanded to my area this week. Now, what do I see first?
