First Clip from Werner Herzog’s Queen of the Desert

Although he appeared in front of the camera for Jack Reacher and Parks and Recreation (and lent his voice to both The Wind Rises and Penguins of Madagascar), it’s been a few years since Werner Herzog has given us a new project from behind it. The 2011 documentary Into the Abyss was his last feature film, but the wait will be over this year with the release of Queen of the Desert, his epic biopic about British archaeologist and explorer Gertrude Bell. The movie stars Nicole Kidman, James Franco, Damian Lewis and Robert Pattinson and is scheduled to premiere at the Berlin Film Festival in just over a week. As we anxiously await the first wave of reviews, here is some brief footage from the film to examine. Are you looking forward to Queen of the Desert?     I ´m very happy to see something new from Werner Herzog, esp. since this seems to have a little more budget than normally, and with great actors. Hope he will work with Nic “The hog let loss” Cage in the future again, but Kidman and Franco are good, and who knows what Pattinson could deliver when in the hands of a capable director.

    Still waiting for Fitzcarraldo II…..with Nic Cage totally going bonkers in the jungle…….

    Every time I see Franco’s face… I want to punch it.
