All-Female Ghostbusters Cast Announced

Update: Hitfix is also reporting that they are courting Bill Murray to play the Walter Peck role (played by William Atherton in the original film).
Get used to it, folks… the all-female Ghostbusters reboot is indeed happening and now we have a full cast to prove it. Sony Pictures and director Paul Feig have just unveiled the four leads for the upcoming film and if all goes according to plan it will be a Bridesmaids reunion of sorts. As previously suspected, Melissa McCarthy will be starring in her fourth film for Feig, but now we have learned that Kristen Wiig is also in talks to join the cast. Rounding out the quartet will be two current SNL cast members: Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon. Feig made the announcement via Twitter earlier today:

Although the negotiations are still ongoing, it is expected that all four will sign on for the film which starts production in New York sometime this summer. A-list actresses Emma Stone and Jennifer Lawrence were previously rumoured to have been in discussions for the film but clearly they have instead opted for comedians across the board. Not much is known about the plot but Katie Dippold (The Heat, Parks and Recreation) is penning the script while Ivan Reitman is still on board as producer. Are you excited to see the all-female Ghostbusters become a reality?
