Although he is primarily known for his stand-up comedy and for his involvement in TV shows like Mr. Show, Arrested Development and The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret, David Cross has also been doing a plenty of work on the big screen over the past two decades. However, up until now, he had never written and directed his own film. That all changed when Hits premiered at Sundance last year, and now his first feature film is finally about to be released in a couple of pretty unique ways.

First, Cross will be releasing the film as a BitTorrent Bundle, a digital distribution format that is being viewed as a way to legitimize BitTorrent. I think a few other movies have been released on there already, but this is the first feature film to debut as a BitTorrent Bundle and also the first to use a pay-what-you-want model. That’s not all, however: he is also using Kickstarter to fund a small theatrical release… the more money they raise, the more locations they will get. Hits stars Meredith Hagner, Matt Walsh, Amy Sedaris, Michael Cera, David Koechner, Amy Carlson and Jason Ritter and it will be available on BitTorrent starting Feb. 13th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.
