New on Netflix: The Trip to Italy, Dark Skies, Child of God

netflix_triptoitaly

If none of the big holiday releases in theatres right now happen to tickle your fancy, Netflix just might have a few decent alternatives for you to curl up with at home. Among the bigger titles added in the U.S. over the past week, we have alien abduction horror flick Dark Skies, Jason Reitman’s romantic thriller Labor Day and Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones plus the silly sci-fi actioner I, Frankenstein and the Director’s Cut of Lars Von Trier’s Nymphomaniac. On the other hand, if you’re looking for a few good laughs, check out Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon’s buddy comedy sequel The Trip to Italy and new seasons of Maron and Comedy Bang Bang. In Canada, we get Lukas Moodysson’s We Are the Best!, the making of Doctor Who TV movie An Adventure in Space and Time and all three seasons of the ’80s cartoon Jem and the Holograms, while both regions get James Franco’s Cormac McCarthy adaptation Child of God. Will you be queuing up any of these movies? Check out the full list of new additions after the jump.

anyone here seen Child of God?

  • T. Heilman

It’s worth watching. Great book, decent film.
Franco is no auteur though (I know, shocking).

  • cronenfly

i really like the book. i saw some scenes from As I Lay Dying and it looked pretty awful.

  • ECONOMYpolitica

The Trip movies are sooooooooooooooo bad.

  • Lisa

The Trip has been on Popcorn Time for a while.

  • Since that is a pirate site (it is, right?) that is not surprising.

  • Agreed. I had trouble getting through the first one, so I don’t think I’ll bother with the second one.

  • ECONOMYpolitica

It’s like watching a car wreck for me.

  • Lisa

Yes it is. And God I love it!
