White God Trailer: Planet of the Dogs

After winning the Un Certain Regard Award at this year’s Cannes Festival, Hungarian director Kornél Mundruczó’s latest film White God will get a U.S. theatrical release next year courtesy of Magnolia Pictures. While it may appear on the surface to be a generic tearjerker about a thirteen year old girl who is separated from her dog, the trailer reveals that there is a little more to it than that: her beloved pet goes on to lead an army of stray dogs who rise up against their former masters. How can you not get behind that premise? The fact that it appears to have been shot entirely using real animals makes it all the more impressive. White God hits select theatres on March 27th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.
