The Crow Reboot Gets Yet Another Director, Luke Evans May Drop Out

We all know that some movies take a very long and arduous journey to the big screen, often going through several personnel changes until they get the right cast or creative team. However, there comes a point where there are some many changes behind the scenes that you have to start asking if the movie was really meant to be and whether you might have missed your window of opportunity. Case in point: Relativity Media has been trying to mount a reboot of The Crow for five or six years now and after going through a long line of attached directors and stars, things appear to be changing yet again. This week a new director has signed on to helm the film and at the same time we are also hearing that current star Luke Evans may be out. Hit the jump for more details.
According to Deadline, music video director Corin Hardy has signed on to direct The Crow reboot, replacing Spanish filmmaker F. Javier GutiƩrrez (Before the Fall) who will now direct The Ring 3D instead. Hardy does not have any feature films under his belt as of yet, but he did a short film called Butterfly and is currently filming a horror film called The Hallow. Edgar Wright is supposedly the one that recommended him for the job.
Other directors that were attached to the project in the past include Stephen Norrington (Blade) and Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later) with Mark Wahlberg, Bradley Cooper and Tom Hiddleston all previously rumoured to be playing the lead role. The latest actor to be attached was Luke Evans, but in a recent interview with Den of Geek he said that he probably won’t be sticking around to find out what happens with the project. What do you think, is there still hope for a new version of The Crow or should they just give it up?
