Channing Tatum Rumoured for The Hateful Eight

Although we’ve already seen a short teaser trailer for Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight in theatres, the movie hasn’t actually started production yet. His follow-up to Django Unchained will supposedly start shooting in Colorado soon, but at the moment it would appear that they are still trying to lock down a cast. The original assumption was that most of the cast from the live script read would reprise their roles, but since then there has been at least one major change. Last month Jennifer Jason Leigh signed on to play Daisy Domergue, the female lead, which was performed on stage by Amber Tamblyn. Now this week we are hearing that Channing Tatum might join the film as well. But who could he be playing?
According to Deadline, Channing Tatum is currently circling a major role in Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight. Another report from Screen Daily confirms his involvement, however it claims that it won’t be a major role but rather one that enters “towards the end of the script.” This makes sense considering that last we heard, all of the other actors from the live read were still attached to appear in the film including Bruce Dern (General Smithers), Samuel L. Jackson (Major Warren), Kurt Russell (John Ruth), Tim Roth (Oswaldo Mobray), Michael Madsen (Joe Gage), Denis Menochet (Bob) and Walton Goggins (Chris Mannix).
Either way, it’s clear that Channing Tatum would be a nice juicy A-list name to add to the movie, one that will help bring in a mainstream audience and attract potential buyers. As it stands right now, the movie is big on familiar faces from previous Tarantino films, but not exactly packed with major stars. What do you think, would Channing Tatum be a solid addition to The Hateful Eight?
