Seth Rogen to Play Woz in Steve Jobs Biopic, Jessica Chastain Also Rumoured

After receiving confirmation last week that Christian Bale has been officially been cast as Steve Jobs in Sony’s upcoming biopic, it is looking like the project is now back on track and gearing up to start production in the near future. Danny Boyle is attached to direct from a script by Aaron Sorkin, based on the biography by Walter Isaacson. Unlike the previous Steve Jobs biopic, the poorly-received Jobs starring Ashton Kutcher, it looks like they are aiming for an A-list cast to work opposite Bale and this week we have our first indication as to who some of those actors might be. Hit the jump for more details.

According to Variety, Seth Rogen is Sony’s choice to play Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak in their as-of-yet untitled Steve Jobs biopic. Jessica Chastain is also being pursued for an unspecified role in the film. The Wrap claims that no deals are in place as of yet, but it would appear that talks are already underway to lock down Seth Rogen.

The casting choice is drawing comparisons to Rogen’s pal Jonah Hill, who recently took on a couple of high-profile dramatic roles in Moneyball and The Wolf of Wall Street (both of which earned him Oscar nominations). It’s unclear if this could be that kind of opportunity for Rogen, but it’s certainly a little outside the box for him. Josh Gad (Frozen) played Woz in Joshua Michael Stern’s Jobs. What do you think, does this casting news make you more or less excited for the new Steve Jobs biopic?

Sean, do you think Jessica Chastain would fit in nice with the rest of the cast? Also, who else do you think should be in the movie? Then, compare the information of what we now know about the film, with what we knew about it before Seth Rogen was cast to play Steve Wozniak.

While watching The Guilt Trip, it seemed SR wanted to dabble in more serious roles. I don’t think he’s making a run for an Oscar, yet, but I like it when actors try projects outside their comfort zone.

I’m not going to watch this film, not because of SR, but due to Christian Bale. I may be the only person in the world who dislikes his acting. :(

Sorry, I just assumed you were being sarcastic. Was that not the case?
