Paddington Trailer Starring Ben Whishaw

I have to admit, I haven’t really been following all the drama surrounding the upcoming CG animated Paddington movie, but apparently Colin Firth was originally supposed to voice the titular bear until he dropped out earlier this year and was replaced by Ben Whishaw. Now this week Studio Canal has released the first full trailer featuring the new voice of Paddington, along with the rest of the live action cast that includes Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Peter Capaldi and Nicole Kidman. The pseudo-realistic look of Paddington is still arguably a little bit creepy, but it is directed by Paul King (The Mighty Boosh) so clearly that must be on purpose… right? Paddington hits theatres in the U.K. on Nov. 28th and in North American on Jan. 16th; check out the new trailer after the jump and see what you think.

Looks like typical child-pandering and intelligence insulting family-friendly garbage featuring a unconvincing cgi animal.
    Shocking I know.

The first trailer I saw for this, oh, about September, the movie looked adorable. Now, it just looks stupid and typical. Maybe this will appeal to furries. Oops, grossed myself out.

Eesh. I had such high hopes for this and that trailer met none of them. I read, or had read to me, a lot of Paddington when I was a kid and thought this would have made an awesome nostalgic Christmas movie. Now it looks like garbage and it’s releasing in January.
