Monday Morning Box Office Report: Ouija Whips Wick

It was a spirited weekend at the box office for two new releases as both Ouija and John Wick ended up making solid debuts. As expected, Ouija led the way with $20 million, 75% of which came from moviegoers under the age of 25. However, John Wick pulled in some decent numbers as well, indicating that perhaps positive reviews can still have an impact. Is Keanu Reeves back? I’m thinking he’s back. Elsewhere, Fury dropped to #3 and Gone Girl fell to #4. The Book of Life rounded out the top 5. Also, in its first weekend of wide release, St. Vincent earned $8 million, which was a little disappointing but good enough for sixth place.
