  • Lori Cerny

    No John Wick?!

  • Annette

“The Town That Dreaded Sundown” : “Tumblr-Blog: The Movie”
    What a fucking ADHD mess!!
Couldn´t someone restrain the editor to prevent him from making a cut every fucking 0,5 seconds??
The uber-annoying Ryan Muprhy also produces the equally obnoxious “American Horror Story”, so he is probably the one to blame here.

  • PlanBFromOuterSpace

I wouldn’t say its obscure, just maybe a little old, but for at least one year for Halloween when I was in my 20s I wore jeans, a black t-shirt with “Vince” in white letters, and I carried a pool cue around. NO ONE really got it (maybe because I’m blond, or maybe I looked like a Batman villain’s henchman), but I was pretty happy with myself. I think I might do that again this year and just have Eric Clapton’s “It’s In The Way That You Use It” playing in a constant loop on my phone.

  • Junker

John Wick was badass, hopefully it will be the start of the Keanunaissance

  • Sam

“Pizza throat” and “Hollyweird” should probably be glossary entries.

  • ReelJunkie

Aspiring writer – Ethan Hawke in Sinister

  • Indianamcclain

    Really enjoyed that movie.

  • Adamau

Havent finished the episode yet but John Cusack in 1408 and Jack Nicholson in The Shining comes to mind for writers..

  • schizopolis

Same here. Bummed about no John Wick review. Long take, wide shot action sequences make that movie.

  • Omar Hauksson

Stan Winston did the first dog monster in The Thing.

  • Colin

The Film Junk Premium cannibalized the hell out of this episode’s runtime… a subconscious metaphor for a Halloween show?

  • Colin

Also, my AV has me in a semi-obscure costume. Cut my hair short, wore a homemade Jackass shirt, and donned some aviators… instant Johnny Knoxville.

  • pcch7

A one and a half hour episode? This takes me back like 6-7 years =D, I can’t believe I’ve been listening to you guys for so long. Time has flown by.

  • pcch7

I think Man of Tai Chi started that =)

  • T. Heilman

That Trick or Treat dvd cover…wow!
Contender for worst photoshop art ever.
I though Anchor Bay’s Modern Problems cover was terrible.

  • Nick

One cover I’ve always found ridiculous is the one with “The Caveman’s valentine” starring Samuel L Jackson.

  • Lori Cerny

    Did they mention “Misery” ?

  • Dstrbpx

Sean&Jay, you made Frank, the jumpiest adult male alive, watch a completely non scary “remake”, a fairy taley 80s creature feature and a goofy 80s horror-comedy for this year´s regular Halloween episode?
Talking about missed chances and balls deep pandering…
This could have been jumpy KOC comedy gold.

  • devolutionary

The Suspect Zero boxart defines the word “generic”.

I’ve seen user-submitted versions that were simpler and yet far better.

  • Sean

Contrary to popular belief, we aren’t interested in torturing Frank. He already sat through all of the Exorcist and Halloween movies, so I’m not sure what could be worse than that. We also didn’t think that The Town That Dreaded Sundown would be completely “non-scary” as you put it.

  • Guest

Comedies seem to suffer the most however…

  • Dstrbpx

well, “torture” is a big word and we´re talking about a grown man and movies that are mostly rated as being able to cope with by 13-17 yr olds.
maybe i`m just dissapointed cause I never met anyone remotely as jumpy and as a jaded horror-fan this is fascinating to see(hear) (and such a person adamantely avoiding to be scared is of course kind of a let down)

  • devolutionary

Haha, I’ve always loved the bizarreness of the Real Genius cover. It reminds me of rudimentary web-design in the late 90’s.

  • devolutionary

Just noticed this. How is VOD Trash not included?

  • Nick

Yeah, well… I love Film Junk just as much as anyone but this episode was really sub-par. Worst episode in a long time. Not that I blame you, recording a premium on the Halloween franchise must be exhausting.

    Pizza throat was fun though.

  • Sean

I swear I wrote up an entry for this already. Weird… maybe it didn’t save or something.

  • Sam

I enjoyed the episode. Was short, but that’s expected with recording a premium on the same day.

Only criticism is that Jay needs to be more on point with having a prescription ready for Frank. Frank is “suffering” through these old and foreign films for us, all Jay has to do is just think of a new one for him each week.

Here’s one for Frank that Jay said he’d considered for him: Jean Pierre Melville’s Army of Shadows.

  • Deven Science

Agree that Jay needs to stay on top of prescriptions, lest this new segment, which I like, will fade away.

  • Bas

Not too obscure, but if Frank missed them: 12 Angry Men and Rear Window

  • One nice costume if you’re going as a group would be to all dress up as Biff Tannen and picking Biffs from different eras!

  • Kenneth Serenyi

?I’m just a Bigelow and everywhere I go

People know the movies I’m Directin’

The Hurt Locker, Blue Steel, or The Miraculous Year

    Ooh, and they’re sayin’

There will come a day when comicbook movies will pass away

What will they say about me?

When the end comes, I know

They was not for the Bigelow

Wonder Woman will go on without me?

  • Sutter Cane is kind of an aspiring writer.

  • What is everyone dressing up as this year? I’m going as Dr. Grant from Jurassic Park, with raptor claw.

  • ECONOMYpolitica

It’s been subpar for a while. What’s the point without Greg? This show jumped the shark a long time ago. Sad to hear.

  • Markus

People need to shut the fuck up about Filmjunk going sub-par/weak/Boring or what have you. Cus’ they are as strong and funny as they ever were. These guys has been doin’ this shit for YEARS now, one of the longest running podcast out there and me for one has been listening for about 6 years now i think and i god damn LOVE every episode. Seriously one of the highlights of the week. So what if the last one episode was more fun/longer/whatever, Sean, Jay and Frank does this becasue they enjoy it, and if you have a problem with the podcast, get the fuck out. Really. There are hundreds of other podcasts you could tune in too. If you dont have anything constructive or good too say, then keep it too yourself. General rule in Life, try it, people will hate you less for being that person.

I for one dreads the day the guys decide too call it quits, i Think i seriously will cry that day. Hopefully i’ll die Before that ever happens. Would be awesome to hear you guys still going strong 40 years from now, all old and shit, Frank will look like Judge Alvin!
Love you guys, alot, and i hope you dont pay attention to the haters.

  • Matt the Kiwi

I’ve got your back Frank. Brolan in You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger, just about everyone in The Words, Bradley Cooper in Limitless, and pretty much every Stephen King movie. I believe we now have enough for an “aspiring writer premium podcast”? :-)

  • Maureen W.

Regarding the list of Wonder Woman directors, sounds like someone just jotted down every female director s/he could think of and started a rumor on Reddit. S/He left out Jane Campion, Penelope Spheeris, and Julie Dash though.

  • Johnny Depp in Secret Window, Throw Momma From the Train (Best writer movie by the way), Adaptation, Barton Fink, I could go on…

  • munieq11

Must be the first episode in a couple of weeks where Jay didn’t say “Frank, did you fart?”.

  • Kasper

With the addition of Aqua at the end of the episode I’m guessing Frank edited this week’s episode. Hoping for an inclusion of Doctor Jones ( the next time you talk about Indiana Jones in some fashion.

  • Kasper

After that pizza I’m guessing they all polluted the room plenty.

  • Kasper

Completely disagree. While the episode was shorter than usual I thoroughly enjoyed it and thought there were a lot of funny parts, such as the pizza throat and Wonder Woman discussion.

  • Kasper

That was also what immediately came to mind for me.

  • Nick

Are you mentally ill or something? To even talk about “haters” with the mild criticism I gave, is ridiculous.

“People need to shut the fuck up”? I haven’t seen any criticism of Film Junk (rightfully so) since Greg left the show, really. So I don’t understand why you get so worked up.

People like you are the one’s who hinder the popularity of podcasts and the like. Fuck the cultic mentality you represent. Go become a monk or something.

  • Nick

I guess it is because Film Junk usually has such a high standard that I became a bit critical after hearing this episode. Pizza throat was fun, as we both agree on, and I actually enjoyed the Pumpkinhead review too.

Your reply is completely fine, and I respect your opinion, but to freak out like Markus above here is just plain creepy and uncomfortable. The Film Junk crew asked us in their latest survey how we can make the podcast, and the site, more popular. Well, it certainly isn’t through cult behaviour like Markus’s.

  • Nick

    I guess I shouldn’t drink-n-post…

Sorry for being disruptive. Have a good day everyone, and I’ll try not to make an ass out of myself in the future.

  • Hey, you were just voicing your opinion on one specific episode. If some Junkers can’t separate that from bashing the podcast and the guys, then they should take a step back.

Personally, I have a hard time looking at each episode individually, it feels like rating a hangout with your friends. I just like to hear what these screwheads are up to, listen to them talk about whatever, and what they think of some movies.
