Live Action X-Men TV Series Possibly in the Works

Fox is just one of the many major studios that has been playing catch up with Marvel over the past few years, attempting to get all of their comic book properties aligned and combined into a single shared universe. Now that they seem to be bringing their X-Men and Fantastic Four movie franchises together, the next step is to establish a presence on the small screen as well. Although Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. seems to be slipping a bit in its second season, it was a big hit last year based solely on its association with the Marvel universe. This year, Warner Brothers has launched a hit of their own with Gotham. So what does Fox have up their sleeve? A live-action X-Men TV series, obviously!
According to Bleeding Cool, Fox is “currently in deep development” on a live-action X-Men TV show and they are supposedly starting to get interest in it. Clearly their biggest challenge would be trying to put together a cast of characters that isn’t just a bunch of no-names. Film Divider is reporting that one option being considered is to have the show revolve around Quicksilver (played by Evan Peters in X-Men: Days of Future Past).
There have been a few previous attempts at live-action shows set in the X-Men universe with mostly lacklustre results. In 1996, Fox aired the made-for-TV movie Generation X, and then there was the early 2000s series Mutant X, which was also produced by Marvel but Fox legally forced them to distance it from the X-Men. Either way, there is potential here but hopefully they can learn from Marvel’s mistakes with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. Would you watch an X-Men TV series without any of the major characters?
