Is a Twin Peaks Revival Imminent?

It’s been a couple of months now since Twin Peaks: The Entire Mystery arrived on Blu-ray, reigniting interest in a cult classic TV series that has been off the air for over two decades now. During that time, it has been somewhat unclear if David Lynch ever truly closed the book on the series in his mind. In 2013 he stated that, “…the town is still there. And I suppose it’s possible that we could revisit it.” One of the more intriguing extras included in the new Blu-ray set was also a ten-minute segment where Lynch interviews several cast members in character as they would be today. More recently, at the Lucca Film Festival, he said there was a “possibility” for a continuation and that fans would have to “wait and see.” Now this week, we have the strongest hint yet that Twin Peaks could possibly be returning. Hit the jump for more details.
Earlier today, David Lynch and Mark Frost both posted nearly identical cryptic messages on Twitter:
Dear Twitter Friends: That gum you like is going to come back in style! #damngoodcoffee

The line is a quote from the show, of course, but the fact that they both tweeted the same thing is probably of more interest. This relates to another quote from Special Agent Dale Cooper: “When two separate events occur simultaneously pertaining to the same object of inquiry we must always pay strict attention!” Well, I think we’re all paying attention now.
But what does it mean? If Twin Peaks were to come back today, is there any chance it would be a network show or would it be on something like Netflix? Would they simply do a new movie instead? Let’s face it, David Lynch doesn’t seem to have a whole lot on his plate at the moment. Would you like to see Twin Peaks make a comeback or should they just leave it alone?
