This week we’ve got one more major studio film throwing its hat in the ring for awards season as the first trailer for Clint Eastwood’s American Sniper has arrived online. Originally targeted as a possibility for Steven Spielberg’s next film, the movie is based on the true story of Chris Kyle, a Navy SEAL who is believed to be the most lethal sniper in American military history. Bradley Cooper plays Kyle while Sienna Miller co-stars as his wife Taya. The trailer is interesting in that it is built around a single tense scene, but at this point it is still unclear whether it will be the next The Hurt Locker or rather something closer to Lone Survivor. American Sniper hits select theatres on Dec. 25th before expanding on Jan. 16th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.
