New on Netflix: October 2014

netflixkillingthemsoftly

October has arrived, which means a whole slew of new titles are ready to queue up on Netflix Instant. This month’s highlights in the U.S. include Andrew Dominik’s Killing Them Softly starring Brad Pitt, Stanley Kubrick’s Paths of Glory, Werner Herzog’s Rescue Dawn, Galaxy Quest, Team America: World Police and the first season of the U.K. gangster drama Peaky Blinders plus all seven season of Gilmore Girls. There are also quite a few Woody Allen movies in the mix and some horror stuff just in time for Halloween including Cabin Fever: Patient Zero, Evil Dead 2 and one of David Cronenberg’s earliest films Shivers.

In Canada, we don’t quite have the numbers but there are some fairly recent releases including Jason Reitman’s Labor Day, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and Rise of the Planet of the Apes plus Sofia Coppola’s Somewhere, Teller’s acclaimed documentary Tim’s Vermeer, and Joe Lynch’s LARPing fantasy comedy Knights of Badassdom. What will you be watching on Netflix this week? Check out the list of new additions after the jump.

Canada gets the shit end of the stick again.

  • Awesome, I’ve been itching to watch Tim’s Vermeer since the first time Jay talked about it. Other that that, I might give Walter Mitty a poke.
