New to Theatres This Weekend: The Boxtrolls, The Equalizer, The Two Faces of January

Denzel Washington kickstarts a brand new movie franchise this weekend as he stars in the loose remake of the ’80s TV series The Equalizer, which is obviously being geared more to fans of Denzel than fans of the TV show. His only major competition is the animated film The Boxtrolls from the same studio that did Coraline and ParaNorman, but lately it seems that family audiences tend to shy away from stop-motion movies. In limited release, we also have the Jimi Hendrix biopic Jimi: All Is by My Side, the crime thriller The Two Faces of January starring Viggo Mortensen, and a remake of the 1975 Mexican horror film Más negro que la noche.
