Keep in mind that the premiums also have to sell. Not everyone buys every premium, and I have an inkling that a Wilder premium would sell really poorly.

  • FDB

I remember an off-the-cuff remark from one of the three that the Hitchcock premium sold poorly. Also, everyone probably has their suggestions, but let’s not get crazy here; Jay specifically said he doesn’t want any “fan” suggestions.

  • frankw35

Agreed..the directive came in the last several minutes of the podcast which I hadn’t heard before I posted this. Disregard this post and whatever you do, don’t watch Billy Wilder! (and I agree, sadly, that classic movie premiums might not be good sellers–which is a shame because I like hearing the guys’ take on them).

  • FDB

No knock against you, Double Indemnity is one of my all-time faves. If we WERE allowed to prescribe movies, that would have to be one of them, and for Billy Wilder I’d throw Ace In The Hole in the mix as well.

Also, as an interesting(ish) side-note, I listened to one of the earlier episodes today (Grindhouse I think), and Greg mentioned Along Came Polly as one of his top 5 romantic comedies of all time.

  • kent88

Sean, exactly which episodes are you planning to take offline for good (for now anyway)?

Episode #85 to Episode #348, correct?

  • traynor

I was thinking the same thing. This archive must be available!

  • traynor

Exactly! What about the theme song? Easy win.

  • traynor

Except for one or two lines and a common director/author, the films are completely unrelated, but I still say “fuck yes” to this suggestion.

  • O

Sean (and Jay & Frank) you should watch Perfect Blue (directed by Satoshi Kon), it’s a mind fuck / thriller type anime that I highly recommend. I think all three of you guys would get something out of it.

  • Ignoring Jay, here is a list of movies I think Frank should try: http://letterboxd.com/rot/list/film-prescription-for-frank-film-junk-1/

  • Jr

Stopping by to protest a Kevin Smith premium. I’ll pay for literally any other premium. Seriously…anything.

  • ReelJunkie

    Please no Kevin Smith premium.

Instead do a premium of classic horror films. Or an updated version of that horror by decade thing you guys did one Halloween years back.

  • devolutionary

Frank hasn’t seen any of those? Boy oh boy!, his condition is worse than I expected.

  • Not sure if he has seen any of them, just going on what I have heard him talk about, gaps in westerns for example, and I would think like me he would have avoided rosemary’s Baby for fear of what it could be, but I watched it recently and it is an amazing movie, and while unnerving I wouldn’t say it is gratuitous horror that Frank dislikes.

  • devolutionary

I actually figure Frank would like the camp in Polanski’s Fearless Vampire Killers more.
