Before he directs Mark Wahlberg in the upcoming Deepwater Horizon disaster movie, J.C. Chandor (All is Lost) has another film sneaking into theatres at the end of this year, just in time to qualify for the Oscar race. A Most Violent Year is a fictional crime drama set in New York City in 1981, the same year that violent crime reached record levels. Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain play a couple who run a growing gas business and soon find themselves at odds with the criminal underworld. The first teaser trailer doesn’t reveal much else about the plot, but it certainly does look handsome. A Most Violent Year hits select theatres on Dec. 31st; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.
