That Nightcrawler poster… Every time I look at it I can’t help but think a version done with Reed would be amazing.

  • Lori Cerny

Thanks, Jay, for defending Witherspoon’s character in Wild against Frank’s ongoing delusions.

  • Lori Cerny
  • ReelJunkie

At times like this I really envy you guys for living in Canada.

  • pcch7

I can’t think of anything other than “They Live” when I see it.

  • pcch7

Is Frank the new Reed? Was it the new Star Trek reboot that Reed said he could’ve done for much less?

  • BonerJams

I could probably wait for the show notes, but…what is the intro song? Real banger.

  • Essie

Thanks a lot for the show. The TIFF episode is always a favorite of mine. The Guest and the Look of Silence sound really interesting to me.

  • Lynn

Yes, thank you Jay!! Frank really needs to get his issues with women worked out. It was particularily creepy during this episode, especially for me as a female.

  • kyri
  • Markus

I agree. I hate puting Frank on the spot for stuff like this but really, the past few months it has become to freaking much with all his “mom-mentallaty” speeches and the way he totally dismisses women’s feelings in society, i was also totally bummed out by the fact that Frank can’t relate to women (or Witherspoon in this case) at all it seems. Dont forget that you have female listeners to. Love the way Jay defended this situation, Frank has no idea how women are treated it seems like. And that’s sad, cuz he seems like he’s an awesome, smart and kind person.

  • Nick Poliskey

I personally LOVE Franks Frankness, as a father of 2, I can assure you mom mentality is disgusting. You should see our community web page…..WOW. All the stay at home moms really should be on some sort of medicine. Anyways, stay stong Frank, don’t let these people change you!

  • DrewNugent

The fact that you people take this stuff so seriously is ridiculous. Frank isn’t creepy and he’s not a sexist, I don’t know the guy personally obviously but I’ve been listening to the show for a long time and from what I hear his so called “Sexism” is nothing more than fodder for him and Jay to go at it. He’s said it himself during the show that a lot of his statements are hyperbolic and only intended to get Jay riled up. Personally, Frank is my favorite part of the show.

  • devolutionary

Yeah all this backlash over the Film Junk personas is becoming silly. It’s not like Frank is out there tirading against the masses of moms. Even the criticism against having Dax a few episodes back was needless. Although I’m pretty sure it was only a vocal 3 or 4 users on the forum, it turned into a malarkey of sorts.

  • ProjectGenesis

Suggestion for the Film Junk Glossary: Salad Days starring Jodie Foster.

  • Tim

Frank is pretty famous for weaseling out of statements by using the “hyperbolic-card” (among other means).
Jay and Sean called him out on that endlessly.
I personally think Frank´s rants against anything female are awesome and hilarious, but sometimes they venture from cluelessprepubescent-area into the creepy/disturbing territory, which was the case during this episode.
Frank should just talk to a woman from time to time(other than his mother), then he will get some insight into these(for him) completely foreign species.
And maybe he will even like them!

  • devolutionary

In defence of Sean’s forgetfulness, there’s many times where Frank has forgotten his own statements in the past so I treat all of this as tongue-in-cheek banter and ribbing between the 3.

  • Markus

I feel like i Went on to hard here. I’ve been listening to the show for, i dont know, about 4-5 years now and i do Think that Frank is one of the best things to happen with this podcast. It’s just when the talk ventures into the “woman-stuff” in lack of a better Word, it can sometimes get a Little too creepy. Still, love you frank. You got one of the best laughs in the World!

  • Maureen W.

Wasn’t Frank’s argument that if Reese Witherspoon’s character was uncomfortable being alone in the woods whenever an ugly guy came along, why was she not afraid when a good looking guy did and why did she hop in his car? Am I missing something?

  • pcch7

I just think it’s funny. I see the mom mentality too, not so often as Frank but it’s there for sure. Especially the example of the mom trying to get ahead in a line, that definitely rings true.

  • Kasper

Maureen, that was what I took away from the discussion as well.

  • Maureen W.

Then I agree with Frank in that respect; cute guys rape women too y’know.

  • devolutionary

Couldn’t remember the song at first but it’s a bassline variation of Desire – Under Your Spell (fm The Guest). Twas featured in Drive as well.

  • Maik

So Jay is all about jumping on Frank for his frequent hypocrisy and misogyny, but when junkers dare to discuss the very same points some commenters immediately go berserk and scream politically correct murder. Jesus. Get over yourself. Frank HATES free passes, so spare him yours.

  • Maureen W.

Who’s going berserk and screaming? I’m just getting clarification on what he said. Also “in that respect” meant that particular argument he was having about the film.

  • Who

It would have been interesting to also hear someone’s reaction to Sion Sono’s Midnight Madness entry TOKYO TRIBE. People seemed to either love it or be exhausted and turned off by it; everyone seemed to describe it as “insane.” If you’re familiar with Sono, then that isn’t really surprising as he’s a really audacious, unique filmmaker. I would say his his four-hour LOVE EXPOSURE is a must-see for anyone interested in movies that really go for broke and stand apart from everything else out there.

  • Lcks88

I said it before and I´ll say it again: “Psychoanalyzing Frank” is the heart and soul of this show. It shall be praised and treasured.

  • FoxMulder

You sure that’s the one? Sounds kinda different. Sean? :-)

  • Sean

Sorry, I’m slacking on the show notes.

It is Hourglass by Survive. But it is indeed from The Guest soundtrack.

  • devolutionary

Yeah sorry, I got the tracks from the soundtrack confused.

  • FoxMulder

Thanks guys! I’m flying right now!

  • Maik

    Totally agree.
Frank would have been Freud´s wet dream!
I mean, his women issues alone…

  • Henrik

Just saw What we do in the shadows last night and it was great. The having to be invited into a nightclub was classic. Also the newspapers before the deed.
