Once upon a time, Rob Cohen was known for directing some of the higher profile blockbusters in Hollywood, from movies like Dragonheart and the original The Fast and the Furious to XXX and, more recently, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. Along the way, however, he’s had some serious flops in there too and now… well, now he’s directing the latest Jennifer Lopez film, The Boy Next Door. Take from that what you will.

Although the title might sound like a romantic comedy, the movie is actually a Fatal Attraction-style thriller with the gender roles reversed. Ryan Guzman (Step Up Revolution, Step Up All In) plays a teenager who moves in next door to a divorced single mother (J. Lo) and starts up a relationship. When she later regrets this decision, he sets out to ruin her life. Yeah, it’s generic as hell, but at the very least, the trailer has some hilarious one-liners. The Boy Next Door hits theatres on Jan. 23rd; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.
