  • Sean

To be fair, Frank gave it a light 4… that’s almost a fail for him!

  • Joachim Lothe-Rikenberg

Oh, like, oh, okay. Hah. Not VOD I’m guessing.

  • devolutionary

I should track down Dax’s previous intro and add that to the folder as well. In due time.

  • schizopolis

Sean has the right attitude toward the Expendables movies. The same formula for the third would have been brutal, which was exactly what the opening scene was in 3. Changing it up and infusing more comedy worked, imo. And I thought the final action sequence was the most fun and frenetic of all the movies. But, the Rambo vs. Riggs boss fight was shit. The best villain of the films is still JCVD.

  • Kasper

They probably hadn’t seen the boxoffice numbers by the time they recorded the show.

  • Kommerzschlampe

    Agreed.

  • Kommerzschlampe

    YES!

  • Sam

Doesn’t it have like a 99% on RT? I’d say they aren’t the first people to love (or in Frank’s case like, not love) the movie.

  • I have to say, I’m very impressed with how well you guys have handled the Skype thing. I’ve noticed it a bit in past episodes but on this one I didn’t even realize you weren’t all in the same room. Skyped-in podcasts are usually a big turn-off for me but you guys seem to have it figured out. Are you guys each recording your own audio and then syncing it up in editing?

  • Vincent is a great guest on the show, hope you come back soon man!

  • Jr

Right on. I’ve listened to every episode and with or without guests, enjoyed all of them. This is my favorite podcast and I hope the few bad apples out there don’t spoil it for the rest of us.

  • Matt the Kiwi

I’m part of the 85% that didn’t realise there were some pricks out there spewing their bile on our beloved Filmjunk crew and their guests. I’m all for constructive criticism and healthy debate (I particularly enjoy a mass debate) but one of the reasons I keep coming back here is the lack of trolls or petty cowardly hatred that seems to permeate the rest of the internet – this place has a really good community feel. It’s hard to hear that Dax and Frank were affected by anonymous rants from the odd (and I mean odd!) listener – I actually felt embarrassed to hear that. We get brilliant, weekly entertainment FOR FREE and people have the nerve to bitch about that? It pisses me off so I have to echo Jays sentiments – if you have something nasty to say, fuck off, you don’t belong here. Mega man love to Jay, Frank and Sean and all your guests – I rate you all as good bastards and I’d say the number of listeners that agree would be closer to 99.99%. As for the rest, get in touch with me and I’m happy to shout you a one way trip to west Africa.

  • FDB

Pretty sure no VOD, but there are DVD quality torrents up.

  • Sam

The opening to the Pacific Rim episode I believe.

  • Bobby Hill

Totally agree. I had no idea. When i heard about the haters at the start of this week’s show, quite frankly it annoyed the shit out of me. The sense of entitlement these numptys think they have over a this podcast, something which they get week in, week out – for free for fuck’s sake.

If you don’t like it, then don’t listen.

And personally, I think Dax is great. He has a different opinion, and that’s what matters. I think he brings an everyman view on things, much the same as Greg used to, plus his artistic insight. He’s a joy to listen to, so Dax, ignore the haters. It’s a small percentage.

  • The stunts by Jackie Chan always impress me. The way he doesn’t use stunt doubles is just crazy!

  • And I just have to add to the positivity; I like you all (including when you spice it up with a guest). You guys are great and always a highlight of my week!

  • Jr

    Awesome work.

  • kent88

We might have another controversy on our hands, folks.

Frank Knezic — leader of the Letterboxd Police, creator of the Letterboxd manifesto — logged THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON as a “watch” on Letterboxd even though he now claims he “rewatched it”.

    Unbelievable.

He also gives it a 4/5 even though he — and I quote — “just can’t get into the movie”.

  • Napalm

Wait you guys haven’t been recording in the same location these last couple of episodes? Huh, guess you learn something new everyday.

  • Jay Cheel

    Yeah, but the button logos…

  • Zach

Jay was only 83% sedated this episode. I applaud this improvement, but it´s still a long, long way back to form (anno Colon Cancer/Rant Altert/Simpsons The Movie/CallingKidsabunchoffuckingcocksuckers).

  • schizopolis

Let’s hope Sean’s neighbors don’t listen to the podcast. They’ll know that he has suspicions.

  • MisterQuigley

Dax, don’t let the bastards drag you down. You’re a peach, and now you’ll always know you have at least 3 true friends. And that’s a lot more than most have. Peace always…

Sean, more creepy neighbor stories please!

  • Dany

Something was really OFF in this episode. I doubt it was only the Skype thing. Hope I’m wrong.

  • Hjels

We love you, Dax. We love all of you. Even Frank. Nay, ESPECIALLY Frank. Even when he’s wrong. So very, very wrong…

  • Nick

Ok, that makes sense. Thanks for the quick reply.

  • NottheKOC

Jay was really snoozing through this episode.. just couldn´t be bothered~ C´mon man, at least pretend u give a fuck! The KOC is bustin his ass every week- follow his good example!

  • Tim

Sean´s neighbours are selling Jay his roofies.

  • Maureen W.

I’m sure you guys know (due to your day jobs) that most feedback that rises to the surface is the strong feedback: either “wow, this is amazing!” or “what a terrible change you made to this, change it back now!!” Don’t get thrown by the negativity too much guys! Many of us understand the situation, understand that people change over time , understand the amount of time the podcast takes to prepare for and record, etc.

  • Obistrike25

I’ve listened to the show on and off since 2009. My morning commute is always great when listening to you chappies. Because of you guys I upgraded to Blu Ray, joined Letterboxed, appreciate Herzog and want to watch Leviathan.

I appreciate the hard work and thanks very much

  • Jared M

Can’t we all just love each other? I like Dax. I like Reed. I like the big three. Sit back and enjoy the cast! Have a beer or don’t, maybe some poutine, just relax and be kind and enjoy the show.

  • Primal

Hey Fellas! It’s been about a year since I’ve posted on the site and that was to give constructive criticism on Frank’s shenanigans and I hope was taken as so. I forgot to follow-up and say how much Frank has improved and has done well on the podcast! In exchange for my silence, you guys have been getting my money from your sweet premiums, but I want to chime in on those Dax haters as I’m part of the 85% who is loving FJ every week.

For me, when there is a guest, I get critical with how it affects the group chemistry. I don’t see how Dax negatively impacts the podcast. A negative impact would be if the trio is holding back in responses/opinions and I don’t sense that happening when Dax is on. Plus, Dax’s opinions “vibes” with the rest of the crew, so I don’t see a problem.

On another note, I remember hearing Jay&Sean for the first time on that TMB podcast. I really only listened to them because of Nagy and I’m glad they brought me to you guys. I think the 1st FJ podcast I listened to was the Transformers 1 episode. Same as Matt Gourley, lol!

Keep up the great work guys! Also, Jay let me know when you’ll be in LA! I recently finished up film school and will be making the move out there soon =)

  • Len F.

How the heck can people hate on Dax? He seems like the nicest dude ever.

I actually meant to comment a couple of shows ago how amazing it is that all of your guests end up being awesome, but I got lazy and forgot to post it. I do find it amazing how all of your guests end up being awesome.

  • 5OF4

Sean’s pick of “Prince of Peace God of War”? Amazing callback to the days of Campea!
