It’s do or die time for Marvel this weekend as we’re about to find out whether or not their riskiest movie to date connects with audiences and saves what has otherwise been a pretty slow summer. Guardians of the Galaxy should easily win the weekend, but will it come close to any of Marvel’s previous films? Something tells me this one could be bigger than expected. There is one other major release in theatres this weekend and it’s a strange fit for the beginning of August: the James Brown biopic Get On Up starring Chadwick Boseman. In select theatres, we also have John Michael McDonagh’s latest film Calvary and James Franco’s adaptation of Cormac McCarthy’s Child of God. What will you be watching this weekend?
