First Official Image of Wonder Woman in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice

The Warner Brothers Comic-Con panel took place earlier today in Hall H at the San Diego Convention Center and from what I hear they blew the roof off the place with teaser trailers for Mad Max: Fury Road, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. While they don’t appear to have plans to release any of that footage online right now, they did give us at least one thing to pore over: the very first official image of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. This, along with a new image of Ben Affleck as Batman that was released earlier in the week, is the extent of the promotional material for the film that was shown at Comic-Con.

While it’s hard to tell if the Wonder Woman image is a complete indication of the visual style of the film, I think it sums up at least one big difference between the DC and Marvel films. Marvel is keeping things colourful and cartoony, while DC is just draining all of the fun and vibrancy right out of the comics. That works for Batman, but I’m not so sure about Superman and Wonder Woman. What do you think of Wonder Woman’s new look? Check out a bigger version of the image along with the new Batman photo after the jump.

  • Justin

And by fun and vibrancy Sean means constant jokes and one-liners

  • Matt Gaffney

Zach Snyder is not getting enough credit for releasing such a major blockbuster in black & white.

The KOC does not approve. Female quotient should be Zero.

ummm this might be turning into some thing nasty…still wonder why Affleck is Batman…sigh.

Everything about this film looks fricking awesome so far, including that incredible teaser!

Hi Sean, her name is Gadot, not Godot. :-)

And yeah, I agree. Where are all the colors? It’s a comic-book fantasy! Even though it makes sense stylistically since Snider’s Superman was so muted in its color palette, this new DC Universe incarnation seems to be taking itself way too seriously.

  • Sean

Oops, thanks for the correction Lior.

I’d prefer the realistic darker tones in the latest DC films (Watchmen, Man of Steel) over the colorfully bright looking pajamas that Marvel tends to use. Honesty….. running around, fighting crime, in bright colorful uniforms, doesn’t feel as believable in a live action world. It rather seems to put the hero in a spotlight position…. allowing the hero to stand out more; which I wouldn’t necessarily call, a good thing. I think the DC costumes look great, more realistic than colorful and fluffy; like Disney is. To each its own though.

Affleck wouldn’t have been my first choice, but I’d rather him than a Batman with a lisp (Bale)
…… worst Batman voice ever….. and I’m a huge fan of Bale’s work. Don’t get me wrong… I love the Dark Knight films, but at the same time, they are also my least favorite Christian Bale films. I can’t predict the future, but I’m willing to bet that, Ben’s gonna pull it off. This movie is gonna be awesome.

It definitely bares resemblance to Xena but that makes more sense for an Amazon than a patriotic colored costume.
