2014 Primetime Emmy Award Nominations Announced

The nominees for the 66th annual Primetime Emmy Awards were announced this morning in Los Angeles courtesy of Carson Daly and Mindy Kaling. HBO’s flagship series Game of Thrones led the nominations with a total of 19 nods, followed closely by FX’s Fargo with 18 and American Horror Story: Coven with 17. Both Fargo and American Horror Story had the advantage of being in the mini-series categories, while True Detective was somehow competing in the Drama category where it earned 12 nominations.
Elsewhere, Breaking Bad also earned 16 nods and might have the edge in a handful of categories due to the fact that this was its final season. It was interesting to see a couple of newcomers to the comedy category as well including Orange is the New Black and Silicon Valley. If that’s not enough, Between Two Ferns even got a nomination this year! Check out the highlights of this year’s Emmy nominations after the jump and let us know what you think.
