Dawn of the Planet of the Apes Prequel Web Series and July 4th Spot

What better way to celebrate Independence Day than by taking a moment to ponder the complete fictional collapse of society? With Dawn of the Planet of the Apes now just one week away, 20th Century Fox has teamed up with VICE to release three short films that fill in the 10 year gap between Rise of the Planet of the Apes and the upcoming film. Entitled Before the Dawn, these webisodes give us a better idea of the progression and effects of the Simian Flu. Also, just for fun they’ve thrown in a fun little promo that is tied thematically to the Fourth of July. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes hits theatres on July 11th; check out the videos after the jump and let us know what you think in the comments below.



  • As soon as I heard “webseries”, I wasn’t expecting much, but those were pretty effective. Especially that last one, following the history of one gun. I could watch a Walking Dead-esque show, where instead of zombies there were intelligent apes.
