New to Theatres This Weekend: Edge of Tomorrow, The Fault in our Stars, Borgman

Tom Cruise’s latest sci-fi action flick Edge of Tomorrow hits theatres this weekend and if this was a decade ago it would probably dominate the box office with ease. Unfortunately, the nagging question of Tom Cruise’s public persona continues to follow him everywhere he goes, and even with extremely strong reviews many are predicting that the movie won’t beat the teen drama The Fault in our Stars starring Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort. Of course, that doesn’t necessarily mean that Edge of Tomorrow will bomb, it’s probably more likely that The Fault in our Stars will be a huge breakout hit. Other movies hitting select theatres include the abortion comedy Obvious Child starring Jenny Slate, Ti West’s cult thriller The Sacrament, and Alex van Warmerdam’s twisted dark comedy / thriller Borgman along with Mike Myers’ directorial debut Supermensch: The Legend of Shep Gordon.
