After months of referring to the upcoming Man of Steel sequel as “untitled Batman vs. Superman movie”, we now know what the official title of the film will be. And yes, it is every bit as straightforward / uninspired as we all probably expected. Zack Snyder and Warner Brothers have finally announced that the movie will be called Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. The new logo is pictured above. The announcement also coincides with the official start of production on the movie in Detroit this week.

Clearly the new title is playing on the fact that this movie will plant the seeds for the Justice League movie, but boy, does it sound generic. I’m really starting to hate how many movies start with the words “Rise of” and “Dawn of” these days, boldly assuming that there will be more sequels to immediately follow. Personally I think I would have preferred just Batman vs. Superman to this mess.
