The summer movie season kicks off this weekend with Sony’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2, a movie that has taken plenty of flack from fanboys online but is still likely to make a boatload of cash. Whether or not it make more than the previous film remains to be seen, but it has already had a pretty strong start overseas. As we’ve come to expect, there are no other major releases risking a head-to-head battle with Spidey, but the R-rated Elizabeth Banks comedy Walk of Shame is attempting to give female moviegoers a viable alternative in limited release. Also in select theatres, we have Tony Jaa’s triumphant return to action movies, The Protector 2, along with the Dido Elizabeth Belle biopic Belle and the Polish drama Ida. What will you be watching this weekend?
