With the fourth season of Game of Thrones premiering last week, HBO has taken the opportunity to start promoting their upcoming series The Leftovers, which will debut immediately after this season’s Game of Thrones finale. Based on the book by Tom Perrotta (Election, Little Children), it imagines a world where 2% of the Earth’s population disappears as a result of the Rapture and examines how the remaining folks deal with it. Justin Theroux headlines the show as the chief of police in a small town of Mapleton, while the supporting cast also includes and Amy Brenneman, Christopher Eccleston, Liv Tyler and Ann Dowd. The show is co-created and co-written by Damon Lindelof (Lost) and the pilot episode was directed by Peter Berg. The Leftovers premieres on June 15th; check out the first two teaser trailers after the jump and see what you think.

Yes! I hope this is done well! Will the Anti-Christ make an appearance? I’m sure the Christian based groups will nitpick the hell out of this one.

The “Leftovers”? Man that is a horrible title! Sounds like a cooking show!!

I’m into the premise, but knowing that it’s Lindelof is kind of a turnoff since I have such a low opinion of his writing skills but I’ll give the show a try just out of curiosity.
