Fantastic Four Reboot Casts Doctor Doom

Back in February, we reported that 20th Century Fox had essentially finalized the primary cast for their upcoming Fantastic Four reboot. Although Fox has not yet made those choices official, we are hearing that Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Bell are all but locked in to their respective roles. Now this week the studio has also decided on an actor for the primary villain of the movie, which will once again be Doctor Doom. Played by Julian McMahon (Nip/Tuck) in the previous 2005 film, word on the street is that the role this time around will be played by British actor Toby Kebbell. Hit the jump for more details.

According to Variety, Toby Kebbell has landed the role of Victor von Doom aka Doctor Doom in Josh Trank’s upcoming Fantastic Four reboot. Although he is not necessarily a recognizable name, he has previously appeared in quite a few films including Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Wrath of the Titans, RocknRolla, Control and The East. He also has upcoming roles in both Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Warcraft. Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire) and Domhnall Gleeson (Harry Potter) were also rumoured to be in competition for the part.

Although he’s a few years older than the actors playing the Fantastic Four, at 31 he still falls in line with the youth-oriented cast. The movie is supposedly going to be based on the Ultimate Fantastic Four comic book series with a script by Simon Kinberg (Sherlock Holmes, X-Men: The Last Stand). What do you think, is Toby Kebbell a good choice to play Doctor Doom? How do you feel about the way this reboot is coming together?

He seems to have been around for ages, has always been awesome, but never seems to get a big break. Maybe that’s by choice if he chooses smaller films, I have no idea.

    Reminds me of Adam Goldberg

Brilliant actor. If you haven’t seen it I must recommend Dead Man’s Shoes!

Totally agree. Watched it again this weekend and he is so much fun to watch in that movie – can definitely see him improving any superhero film by being the villain.
