Fantastic Four Reboot Finalizes Cast: Kate Mara and Jamie Bell in Talks to Star

After more than a year of rumours and speculation, 20th Century Fox is finally about to lock in the cast for their upcoming Fantastic Four reboot. Nothing is official yet, but last we heard, Michael B. Jordan was all but confirmed for the role of Johnny Storm aka The Human Torch. He was one of the first names to be rumoured for the film, and despite some of the fanboy objections to an African-American Johnny Storm, no one else has even been mentioned as a possibility for the role. Miles Teller is still said to be the top choice for Reed “Mr. Fantastic” Richards. Now this week we are hearing that the roles of Sue Storm aka The Invisible Woman and Ben Grimm aka The Thing have also been decided. Kate Mara (House of Cards) and Jamie Bell (Jumper) are the likely candidates.

According to The Wrap, Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara and Jamie Bell are all nearing deals to star in the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot. Michael B. Jordan’s involvement is not a huge surprise considering that he starred in director Josh Trank’s previous film Chronicle. The actor has also starred with Miles Teller in That Awkward Moment and the duo are setting up a heist film together as well.

Kate Mara was previously reported to be on the shortlist for Sue Storm along with Emmy Rossum. It would seem that Fox never considered an African-American woman for the role even though Sue Storm and Johnny Storm are siblings… go figure. As for Jamie Bell, this is the first time he has been mentioned, so his casting is somewhat unexpected. However, it makes a bit of sense considering that The Thing will be entirely CG in the reboot and Bell has extensive experience with performance capture from The Adventures of Tintin. As we await an official announcement from Fox, how do you feel about this line-up for the new Fantastic Four?

All of them are good actors (specially miles teller) but arent they a bit young for roles??

  • AL

Yikes !!! Well, at least we know the thing will be all CG.

If Michael B. Jordan “flames on”, won’t he melt?

  • derpa

So…Are we getting a british Thing, or can Jumper do an american accent?

  • Deven Science

I was going to ask the same question, UN. The casting makes it look like Fantastic 490210.

  • All I can think of when seeing that cast is the extremely NSFW Nymph()maniac trailer

  • Dan Forsyth

Ridiculous casting! Nobody in fandom can seriously think this is a good idea!

I’ve been a huge fan of marvel Comics for more than 30yrs now, and as an avid reader/collector, I feel the casting for this latest F4 is all wrong.1. Johnny and Susan Storms’ characters (rumored to be played by Michael B. Jordan and Kate Mara, (good actors by the way) castings won’t work because the F4 siblings are blood brother and sister (not adopted siblings,). So even if diversity is considered, the siblings should have the same ethnic background (even though to stay true to the original comics they were of European descent). As for Ben Jacob. Grimm a.k.a. “the Thing”, maybe CG will do his character better justice than Michael Chiklis portrayed him. To stay true to the original comics, The thing only stood 6’0 feet, but still could initially give the ‘Incredible Hulk” a run for his money (before the Hulk got really pissed off…lol). I mean lets be realistic people…I understand that comic book filmmakers are trying to cater to young adults by toning the storylines down, but in truth, they should be turning them up and stop butchering the storylines that made us (myself amongst others) become such devoted fans that we would spend our hard earned money to go watch our favorite comic book titles’ become skewered…think about it…Hugh Jackman as “Wolverine” (all due respects he is an excellent actor) , but come on, Hugh is over 6’0 feet…Logan was a short stocky guy…henceforth the “little runt” reference often made by “Sabertooth” in the comics ..just sayin…although its just entertainment…lets not be money hungry and maintain original comics’ integrity…either do it right or don’t do it at all…Just sayin… nuff said…

Am I the only one pissed they are doing a reboot? I loved the most recent movie with Jessica Alba and Chris EVans. I thought all the actors did an amazing job and I wouldn’t change a thing! If anyone else agrees that this reboot is stupid and unnecessary shoot me an email.

If they’re going to change ethnicity for Johnny (dumb idea btw) they might as well make the guy asian :P

  • Koala37

    This made me lol xD

I am pretty sure they are going for the Ultimate Fantastic Four version as they are younger then the normal version.
