Fantastic Four Reboot Finalizes Cast: Kate Mara and Jamie Bell in Talks to Star

After more than a year of rumours and speculation, 20th Century Fox is finally about to lock in the cast for their upcoming Fantastic Four reboot. Nothing is official yet, but last we heard, Michael B. Jordan was all but confirmed for the role of Johnny Storm aka The Human Torch. He was one of the first names to be rumoured for the film, and despite some of the fanboy objections to an African-American Johnny Storm, no one else has even been mentioned as a possibility for the role. Miles Teller is still said to be the top choice for Reed “Mr. Fantastic” Richards. Now this week we are hearing that the roles of Sue Storm aka The Invisible Woman and Ben Grimm aka The Thing have also been decided. Kate Mara (House of Cards) and Jamie Bell (Jumper) are the likely candidates.
According to The Wrap, Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara and Jamie Bell are all nearing deals to star in the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot. Michael B. Jordan’s involvement is not a huge surprise considering that he starred in director Josh Trank’s previous film Chronicle. The actor has also starred with Miles Teller in That Awkward Moment and the duo are setting up a heist film together as well.
Kate Mara was previously reported to be on the shortlist for Sue Storm along with Emmy Rossum. It would seem that Fox never considered an African-American woman for the role even though Sue Storm and Johnny Storm are siblings… go figure. As for Jamie Bell, this is the first time he has been mentioned, so his casting is somewhat unexpected. However, it makes a bit of sense considering that The Thing will be entirely CG in the reboot and Bell has extensive experience with performance capture from The Adventures of Tintin. As we await an official announcement from Fox, how do you feel about this line-up for the new Fantastic Four?
