Alejandro Jodorowsky’s The Dance of Reality Trailer

One of the most buzzed about movies on the festival circuit last year was Jodorowsky’s Dune, a documentary about Alejandro Jodorowsky’s ill-fated adaptation of Frank Herbert’s sci-fi classic Dune. Also last year, the legendary Chilean filmmaker who gave us the avant-garde masterpieces The Holy Mountain and El Topo premiered his first film in 23 years at Cannes. Now that movie, The Dance of Reality, will be getting a U.S. release this year courtesy of ABKCO Films… but will it prove to be worth the wait?
Billed as an autobiographical tale of sorts, The Dance of Reality was shot in Jodorowsky’s hometown of Tocopilla, Chile and stars his son Brontis as Jodorowsky’s father. The first official trailer hit the web this week, and it looks to be every bit as colourful and surreal as you might expect. The Dance of Reality will make its U.S. debut at SXSW next month in Austin, Texas, before hitting select theatres on May 23rd. Check out the trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.
