Odd Thomas Trailer Starring Anton Yelchin

After spending a large part of his career helming blockbusters like The Mummy and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, director Stephen Sommers recently decided it was time for a change of pace. He turned his attention to a much smaller project: an adaptation of the best-selling novel Odd Thomas by Dean Koontz. Shot independently on a $27 million budget, the movie was initially held up by some unfortunate lawsuits, but now it looks like it is finally about to get released via VOD.
Anton Yelchin stars as a short-order cook who has the ability to communicate with the dead. When he encounters a mysterious man and a swarm of spirit creatures known as bodachs, he realizes that his town is in serious danger and he needs help in order to save it. I have to admit, I’m not all that familiar with Dean Koontz’s work, but based on this trailer, the story doesn’t seem particularly original. Still, it’s a popular book, so I’m guessing at least a few people will be excited about this. Odd Thomas hits select theatres and iTunes on Feb. 28th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.
