Seth MacFarlane’s A Million Ways to Die in the West Red Band Trailer

You only have yourselves to blame for this. After the insane success of Seth MacFarlane’s Ted, the creator of Family Guy has essentially been given free rein to put anything he wants up on the big screen. So for his next big budget comedy, he has chosen to go with something completely different: a send-up of westerns called A Million Ways to Die in the West. Universal has released the first red band trailer for the movie this week and it looks every bit as dumb and crass as you would expect it to be.

The main running joke, apparently, is that people die brutally and without warning in this town, which provides ample opportunity for endless non sequiturs. But beyond that, MacFarlane himself stars as a cowardly sheep farmer who must seek help from a gunslinger’s wife in order to win back the woman he loves. The cast also includes Charlize Theron, Amanda Seyfried, Liam Neeson, Neil Patrick Harris, Giovanni Ribisi and Sarah Silverman. A Million Ways to Die in the West hits theatres on May 30th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

    Could be fun, but it has as terrible video-look to it. Hopefully they will do some more post-processing to make it look like an actual film and not some recorded stage play…

    Looks like I’m in the minority hear but I really like the look of this for fun watch (at home). Not surprising though – love Family Guy and laughed more watching Ted than most other comedies around that time. Mila Kunas, Mila Kunas – that’s some funny in-joke shit right there.

    I won’t lie, I kind chuckled at quite a few parts. Ted was surprisingly funny so i’ll give this a chance. Plus if doing these sort-of funny live action films leads Seth away from his terrible animated shows…hey that’s a win.

    He’s putting his ass out on the line in live action a little bit, and I think that’s a better situation than in Ted. Hope this is alright.
