Danny Boyle’s Babylon Trailer Starring Brit Marling

Just as her latest collaboration with Another Earth director Mike Cahill was acquired by Fox Searchlight at Sundance, the first trailer for Brit Marling’s upcoming U.K. series Babylon has also debuted online. The show is directed by Danny Boyle and it finds Marling playing an American who is hired to give London’s police force a P.R. makeover. This isn’t just another cop show, however; it seems to be more of a comedy in the vein of The Office or The Thick of It. I guess that makes sense considering that the show was created by Jesse Armstrong and Sam Bain, who worked on The Thick of It in addition to Peep Show, Fresh Meat and the movie Four Lions. Babylon‘s pilot episode premieres on Channel 4 in the U.K. on Feb. 9th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

How the fuck did you manage to compare it to The Office and The Thick of It?! It’s not even a comedy!

  • Sean

The trailer felt very comedic to me and it is clearly described in the Channel 4 press releases as a “comedy-drama.”
