Quentin Tarantino’s Next Film Gets a Title and Possibly Bruce Dern

Late last year, it was looking like Quentin Tarantino had finally decided that his next film would be another western, one that was not connected to Django Unchained. Details were still scarce at the time, but over the past week some new information about the project has started to come to light. It seems that Tarantino has finished his first draft of the script and is currently passing it around to a handful of actors that he would like to work with. Two in particular that he is said to be pursuing are Christoph Waltz (shocking!) and Bruce Dern. We also have a rumoured title for the film: The Hateful Eight. So will this be Tarantino’s take on The Magificent Seven?

According to Deadline, Quentin Tarantino is looking to once again reteam with his buddy Christoph Waltz for his next film. Perhaps more surprisingly, however, is the report that he also has a role in mind for 77-year-old Hollywood veteran Bruce Dern. Dern did have a small role in Django Unchained, but he has starred in plenty of other westerns over the years including Hang ‘Em High, The Cowboys and Posse.

It’s interesting to note that Django Unchained is Tarantino’s most successful movie to date, although that it seems doubtful that this is the reason he has chosen to do another western. Although the new movie is said to be unrelated to Django Unchained, Tarantino’s long-time editor is sort of carrying that torch by directing a sequel to the original Django starring Franco Nero called Django Lives. What do you think, are you excited about the possibility of a Tarantino / Dern team-up?

Wasn’t Dern in Django for a few seconds?

  • Sean

Yep, you’re right. I shall update the post.

  • T. Heilman

Django Lives? That excites me even more than a new QT film. Franco Nero and Tomas Milian reunited for a new western? I have no faith it will see production but I would happily sacrifice every 2014 release to see it.

Milian will only work with Tarantino. That’s a fact. He was offered to work on Djiango Lives but refused the role. Hail man was right.
