Weekly Poll Results: Best Coen Brothers Movie

pollresultscoenbros

The last Film Junk poll of 2013 ran for a little longer than usual, but it made for a pretty epic battle as three great films vied for the title of Best Coen Brothers Movie. In the end, The Dude’s rabid cult following gave The Big Lebowski the edge over No Country for Old Men as it claimed the top spot by just a handful of votes. Fargo wasn’t far behind in third place while Miller’s Crossing and O Brother, Where Art Thou? rounded out the top 5. Almost all of the remaining films pulled in at least a few votes with the exception of Intolerable Cruelty and The Ladykillers which were both completely shut out. It would be interesting to see where Inside Llewyn Davis fits into this list once everyone has had a chance to see it. Do you agree with these results?

1. The Big Lebowski — 24%
2. No Country for Old Men — 23%
3. Fargo — 21%
4. Miller’s Crossing — 7%
5. O Brother, Where Art Thou? — 6%
6. Raising Arizona — 5%
7. Barton Fink — 4%
8. A Serious Man — 4%
9. True Grit — 2%
10. Blood Simple — 2%
11. The Man Who Wasn’t There — 1%
12. The Hudsucker Proxy — 1%
13. Burn After Reading — 0%
14. Intolerable Cruelty — 0%
14. The Ladykillers — 0%

I love a Serious Man. If I were to make a movie of my own, it says exactly what I’d want to say.

  • MC

I am surprised Raising Arizona only received 5% of the vote. Then again, I could see a lot of people saying to themselves, “I love Raising Arizona, but I love this other movie more.”

  • RockJoker

Pretty fair resuls. I like “Burn after reading” more than “Oh brother”, but whatever… I adore No Country, Fargo and Big Lebowski.

  • Deven Science

The crime of this poll is that it just doesn’t show how truly awesome these other films are. Hudsucker Proxy and Raising Arizona would be near the top of any other list comedy/movie list, but pitted up against other Coen movies…

  • Miller

The Big Lebowski is easily my favorite comedy of all time. I’m glad to see it win.

  • Ladykillers deserves the bottom spot. One of the biggest disappointments ever for me.

  • Also just noticed Burn After Reading w/0%, which at least reaffirms that the Coens are fuuuucking fantastic because I love that movie
