Big Bad Wolves Trailer

When Quentin Tarantino names your movie the best film of the year, that arguably carries a lot more weight than praise from just about any film critic working today. So it’s not surprising to see that Magnolia Pictures have put Tarantino’s endorsement front and center in their marketing campaign for the Israeli revenge thriller Big Bad Wolves. What is surprising, however, is that the movie actually looks pretty Tarantino-esque, when in the past QT has often had trouble giving credit to films that veer a little too close to his own wheelhouse.

The story revolves around a police detective (Lior Ashkenazi) who is determined to hunt down a suspected child killer (Rotem Keinan) and eventually teams up with the father of one of the victims (Tzahi Grad). What results is a darkly comedic thriller that revolves around torture, which could potentially serve as an interesting companion to this year’s Prisoners. Big Bad Wolves hits select theatres and VOD on Jan. 17th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.
