Paul Walker 1973-2013

Details are still coming in but it appears that actor Paul Walker passed away earlier today in California. The circumstances surrounding his death are unfortunate and have led some to believe this is a hoax, but the news has since been confirmed via sources close to the actor and also on his social media pages. He was in Santa Clarita participating in a car show to benefit the Philippines typhoon relief effort and had supposedly been taking some friends for a ride in his new Porsche GT. During one of these rides, he lost control of the car and it struck a light post, causing the whole vehicle to go up in flames. A witness who tried to put the fire out recognized Walker in the vehicle. He was 40 years old. Here is the official statement from his Facebook page:

“It is with a truly heavy heart that we must confirm that Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident while attending a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide. He was a passenger in a friend’s car, in which both lost their lives. We appreciate your patience as we too are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news. Thank you for keeping his family and friends in your prayers during this very difficult time. We will do our best to keep you apprised on where to send condolences. – #TeamPW”

Obviously this is pretty shocking news, especially considering that they are currently in the middle of filming Fast & Furious 7. It’s unclear what this will mean for the future of the franchise. In addition to the Fast & Furious series, Walker has also appeared in such movies as Joy Ride, Running Scared, Timeline and Into the Blue. What are your favourite Paul Walker movies? How do you think they should proceed with the Fast & Furious 7?

I implore you guys to revisit Running Scared from 2006, it was actually really strange and kind of awesome. 2 fast 2 soon. RIP

  • Cy_Ed

Looking forward to seeing him in The Hours

I think they should work in his death in the script by killing off his character in Fast and Furious 7. The movie will obviously be dedicated in his memory.

^^^ THIS. Running Scared is amazing. Absolutely bugnuts craziness for 1.5hrs, and Walker plays way against type

Can’t be emphasized enough how fucked up awesome Running Scared is.

RIP Paulie. One of my personal faves; a charismatic dude with old school movie star charisma and boundless likability. His resume, from the Fast & Furious franchise to the awesome Joy Ride and the uplifting, family friendly Eight Below contains some real treasures.

Wow! was not expecting this! Man was a horrible actor that had as much charisma as a piece of wood but he always seemed likable to me.

Horrible way to go and condolences to his family. RIP dude.

You can be sure that they will finish the film because audience for this franchise probably won’t care if it’s in bad taste or not. They probably won’t have the character die in a car wreck, though, which would be the most obvious thing to do without needing additional footage.

There will be a lot of discussion about the fact that the franchise glorifies street racing and shows characters doing things in cars that should be fatal but end up walking away without a scratch. When I’m passed by two cars going 100 mph or more it’s hard for me to believe that everyone knows that street racing is a fantasy.

Very tragic and sad but also fiendishly ironic. This would be like Sylvester Stallone getting killed in a charity boxing fight.

    Running Scared is underrated.

My favorite Walker film is hands down, Running Scared. Coolest gritty and urban spin on fairy tales I’ve ever seen. I think he gave one of his best performances in that as well.
As for The Fast & The Furious 7….. I’m fairly sure they’ll eventually proceed with the film, with some serious cuts and rewrites; and considering the 7th film is about Shaw’s older brother Ian, getting revenge, they’ll probably write Brian O’Connor being one of Ian’s victims, as well as Han; turning the whole film into a grittier Fast & Furious movie, with Dom coming back with a vengeance . I’m sure Lucas Black will be filling in Walkers shoes (sorta speak), since he was the main star in Tokyo Drift. They said it would be coming out this coming Summer, but I’m sure it will obviously be delayed. I was really looking forward to the 7th, considering there being a new director involved. I was a huge fan of Death Sentence (another revenge film, by James Wan.) I hope they go through with it, but either way, I’m more than positive that this particular F&F will be pretty dark.
It’s really sad hearing this news. I always thought Walker brightened up the series. He will be missed. R.I.P.
