Son of God Trailer: The Bible Mini-Series Becomes a Movie

The Bible

One month before Darren Aronofsky’s Noah hits theatres, 20th Century Fox will release their own Biblical epic based on the wildly successful History Channel mini-series The Bible. Son of God (not to be confused with James Franco’s Child of God) is a feature film composed of re-edited footage from The Bible with some additional scenes thrown in for good measure. The movie is rated PG-13 but they promise that the crucifixion will still be realistic enough to give young children nightmares (okay, I made up that last part). Produced by reality TV maestro Mark Burnett, Son of God stars Diogo Morgado as Jesus and Roma Downey as Mary and it hits theatres on Feb. 28th. Check out the trailer after the jump and let us know what you think.

“You predicted that I would catch fish while fishing… It’s a miracle!!”

Seriously. Jesus once again being portrayed by a caucasian actor? Fuck this.

  • Boris the Blade

Worst thing ever. And he is white, of course!

And it seems like the British accent has become the same as “foreign language” in Hollywood. Fuck subtitles; just do the accent!

  • Matt the Kiwi

I wish Blockbuster still existed so I could shelve the DVD edition of this in the fantasy section. I’d actually be interested in seeing a movie based around the historical Jesus rather than the biblical one. Talk about preaching to the converted!

  • Oh good, there haven’t been enough of these
