Mysterious Wonder Twins Poster Surfaces… What Does It Mean?

At this point in time, there aren’t very many comic book properties that haven’t been at least considered for a big screen adaptation. I mean, let’s face it, the Guardians of the Galaxy are going to get their very own summer blockbuster next year. That being said, there are some characters that still seem highly unlikely to appear in a movie and right at the top of that list is the Wonder Twins. Originally created by Hanna-Barbera for the Super Friends animated series in the ’70s and ’80s, they are siblings from the planet Exxor who have the ability to shapeshift. They also have a pet monkey named Gleek. They have been a joke to comic book fans for years, but now suddenly this week a mysterious teaser poster has appeared claiming that they are about to get a movie. Is there any chance this could actually be real?
The poster in question was sent to Midtown Comics in New York and they say that it arrived in an official Warner Brothers tube. It proclaims Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis as the stars and says that the movie will “Activate” in 2014. Considering that this is the first we’ve heard of it, it seems highly unlikely that this is an actual movie being made by Warner Brothers.

So the question is, what is this poster actually for? The general belief seems to be that it is viral marketing for the upcoming Entourage movie, which makes a lot of sense. Fans will recall that the show’s lead character Vincent Chase once starred in an Aquaman movie and HBO even went through the trouble of taking out an ad in Variety to promote it. The Wonder Twins seem like the perfect characters to use to continue parodying Hollywood.
On the other hand, I suppose there is always the possibility that the Wonder Twins will appear in the upcoming Batman vs. Superman movie. The problem is that movie doesn’t hit theatres until 2015. Truth be told, there were also reports that the Wonder Twins might appear in a Justice League movie many moons ago with Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal rumoured to be playing them. What do you think this poster is for? Do you think we’ll ever actually see a real Wonder Twins movie?
