Well that didn’t take long. Less than a week after Marvel announced their plan to produce four new TV series and a mini-series to stream exclusively on Netflix, two of those shows are about to land writers. Daredevil and Jessica Jones appear to be the first two characters that Marvel wants to focus on and both shows are already in the process of locking down key members of their creative team. It’s unclear if these writers will also bear the title of “showrunner”, especially since each 13-episode series will likely have a definitive end point, building up to The Defenders mini-series. Hit the jump to find out who they have in mind.

According to The Wrap, long-time J.J. Abrams and Joss Whedon collaborator Drew Goddard is the man who will be writing and overseeing the new Daredevil series for Netflix and Disney. Goddard recently directed the meta-horror flick The Cabin in the Woods (which he co-wrote with Whedon) while his other writing credits include Cloverfield and World War Z along with several episodes of Lost, Alias and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He is said to be a huge Daredevil fan, but clearly it is his connection to Joss Whedon that probably got him the job.

As for Jessica Jones, Deadline reports that the series will be written by Melissa Rosenberg. She has written screenplays for all of the Twilight movies, but her TV work includes Dexter, The O.C. and Birds of Prey. Her involvement seems to be a logical carry over from when she was developing a Jessica Jones drama series for ABC. Are you looking forward either of these shows? Will these two writers get both projects off on the right foot?
