Now that Zack Snyder and Warner Brothers have cast their new Batman, they’re turning their attention to some additional supporting roles for the upcoming Batman vs. Superman movie as well. We continue to hear rumours that Wonder Woman may appear in the film with Variety recently reporting that Gal Gadot, Elodie Yung and Olga Kurylenko are all auditioning for an unspecified female lead in the film. Some believe that the character will simply be a love interest for Bruce Wayne, while others insist that it will indeed be Wonder Woman (hey, why not both?). Either way, another rumour surfaced on Friday indicating that Batman may have a familiar sidekick in the film as well. Let the Nightwing casting rumours begin!

According to The Wrap, Girls star Adam Driver is the current frontrunner to play Dick Grayson / Nightwing in the Batman vs. Superman movie. He fits the casting description that was revealed by Latino Review last week as a “young John Hawkes-type” and he is also both physically fit and a former Marine. He’s not a huge star yet, but he’s the kind of up and coming actor that comic book movies seem to be relying on (especially for roles that include appearances in multiple sequels).

While this is all unconfirmed, at this point it seems safe to say that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is not continuing his pseudo-Robin role from The Dark Knight Rises. Word on the street is that Batman and Nightwing will be estranged in the movie after some sort of falling out in the past. Either way, while I suspect some people will really dislike the idea of Adam Driver in this role, I’m just happy to see them considering someone who isn’t the typical handsome yet bland Hollywood star.
