The pool of studio-acceptable actors continues to be extremely limited when it comes to comic book movies. Kick-Ass star Aaron Taylor-Johnson has officially signed on for his second major role wearing tights as Quicksilver in Joss Whedon’s upcoming Avengers sequel, The Avengers: Age of Ultron. It was previously announced that another Kick-Ass alum, Evan Peters, will be playing Quicksilver next year in Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past. Pietro Maximoff is one of a few Marvel characters that multiple studios have access to, although The Avengers sequel will not be able to acknowledge his relation to Magneto. According to The Wrap, Aaron Taylor-Johnson has worked out the scheduling conflicts that were preventing him from signing on to play Quicksilver in The Avengers: Age of Ultron. He had been rumoured to be the frontrunner earlier this summer, but publicity commitments for Godzilla were causing problems. Elizabeth Olsen (Martha Marcy May Marlene, Silent House) is still believed to be Marvel’s top choice for Quicksilver’s twin sister Wanda (aka Scarlet Witch), but since she also appears in the Godzilla reboot she may have similar scheduling issues.

From what I know of Quicksilver, he is one of the more cocky superheroes in the Marvel universe as his ability to both move and think at superhuman speeds also gives him a lack of patience for most other mortals. I can see Aaron Taylor-Johnson pulling that off quite well. In fact, with Joss Whedon’s dialogue coming out of his mouth, he should be total douche! What do you think, are you looking forward to seeing Kick-Ass in The Avengers: Age of Ultron?

I’m afraid to say this, but I didn’t even enjoy the first Avengers film. So, no, I’m not really looking forward to A2. Most of the cast drives me nuts.
