It was pretty clear from the outset that last week’s poll was going to be a two-horse race, but in the end Steven Spielberg’s Saving Private Ryan held on for the win over Forrest Gump. The movie accounted for a 25% of the total votes while Gump managed about 20%. Coming in a distant third was Joe Dante’s The ‘Burbs, which definitely finished a lot higher than expected (not that I’m complaining), while Cast Away and Road to Perdition rounded out the top 5. It’s interesting to note that one of Hanks’ two Oscar-winning films, Philadelphia, was pretty far down on the list at #13, while his directorial debut That Thing You Do! was almost at the bottom.
