Ant-Man Lead Role Down to Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Paul Rudd

Despite the wild rumours that were swirling a few months ago about Simon Pegg possibly taking on the lead role in Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man, fans were quickly brought back down to earth when they realized that he was merely visiting Marvel HQ in order to appear on a podcast. That being said, Ant-Man has remained one of the most intriguing upcoming Marvel roles still to be cast, largely because the movie is expected to be very different and largely comedic. Now this week we have learned that Marvel has narrowed their choices down to two main actors, both of which are relatively well-known and yet somewhat unexpected. According to reports, scientist Henry Pym will be played by either Joseph Gordon-Levitt or Paul Rudd. Which one would you prefer?

The news comes courtesy of Variety, who claim that there is at least one other unnamed actor who remains a remote possibility. However, both Levitt and Rudd are expected to meet with Edgar Wright and Marvel execs one more time before they make their final decision. Wright co-wrote the script with Joe Cornish (Attack the Block).

Personally as much as I like JGL, I’d really like to see Paul Rudd get this role. He seems like the more interesting choice and also potentially the funnier one. And for those who think Paul Rudd doesn’t have any experience with action movies, you clearly have not seen Gen-X Cops 2: Metal Mayhem. In other news, Edgar Wright recently tweeted this pre-production photo of the Ant-Man suit. Who would you like to see play Ant-Man?

I agree. Rudd would definitely be more interesting to see take the role

I’m shocked that you would go against JGL, Sean but I agree. Not a huge fan of Rudd but this would be quite different so I’m game.

    Rudder all the way.

  • Jack Shepard

They’re both too good looking to make me laugh.
